Mr. Tariq Mehmood (PMS) recently became the first deputy commissioner (DC) from Yarkhun valley of Upper Chitral after assuming the charge of the office in Lower Kohistan district.
Mr Mehmood joined the Provincial Management Service after graduation in English literature from the University of Peshawar. Later, he moved to Japan and earned a master degree in public policy from National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies Tokoyo on ADB scholarship in 2013. To pursue higher studies, Mr Mehmood chose South Korea and achieved an MS degree in Public Management from KDI School of Public Policy and Management in 2022.
Son of Brig (r) and General Manager (GM) AKESP for GB and Chitral Khosh Muhammad Khan, the young bureaucrat has served on key positions like DMO EMA in Chitral, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Peshawar, Assistant Commissioner Shangla and also Assistant Commissioner Kabal Swat. In addition to that, Mr Mehmood has also served as assistant chief education and tourism sector at the Planning and Development Peshawar, Deputy Secretary Finance KP. He was serving as Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) DI Khan before being posted as Deputy Commissioner Lower Kohistan.
Deputy Commissioner Tariq Mehmood belongs to a well-educated family. His siblings include Taj Muhammad (PhD) in Medicine from Sweden, Qaisar Mehmood, Asstt Director State Bank Karachi, and Sajjad Haidar (MPhil) in education and planning management from LUMS Lahore.
