CHITRAL: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Deputy Speaker Suriya Bibi made an emergency visit to the flood-affected areas of Upper Chitral on Thursday.
The area has been devastated by floods, resulting in widespread destruction to houses, crops, gardens and roads, says a press release.
Before heading to the affected areas, Suriya Bibi met district administration officials, rescue teams and security agencies. She issued them instructions for taking concrete steps to address the current situation and provide immediate relief to the affected population. The deputy speaker personally oversaw the deployment of machinery and medical teams in the flood-hit areas.
She was informed that roads had been restored up to Brep while work was underway to reopen the Yarkhun Road by Friday. She directed the administration to ensure a steady water supply in the affected areas and expedite power restoration efforts.
The deputy speaker also visited the Booni Medical Center (BMC) where she met patients injured in floodwaters. She instructed the hospital administration to remain vigilant and provide optimal medical facilities to those in need, given the current situation.
