Bannu protest sit-in enters third day
BANNU: The protest sit-in in Bannu against firing on a peace rally in the area by unknown persons and rising terrorism in the region entered third day on Monday.
The Dharna at Police Lines Chowk has been staged by traders, civil society, religious figures and some political parties.
The peace rally was held against rising terror incidents in Bannu as well as in the whole province.
The participants of the sit-in say that police should be given more powers to cope with terror activities and nighttime patrolling in the city should be enhanced. Moreover, the Counter-Terrorism Department should be involved in action against terrorists.
They also say that missing persons should be recovered and steps should be taken to ensure peace in the region.
The government has so far taken no serious steps to negotiate with the sit-in participants and meet their demands.
