Chinese youth in Chitral to marry Kalash girl

CHITRAL: A youth from China has reached Chitral to marry a Kalash girl after they developed friendship on social media.

The two approached a court in Chitral for marriage, but the Chinese man, Ojan, had no verification documents or a local guarantor due to which the marriage could not be solemnized and the would-be bridegroom sought a week’s time to furnish it.

On the demand of civil society activists, the government has made it mandatory for outsiders to bring a guarantor and police verification for marrying in Chitral.

The Chinese youth has arrived in Pakistan on a three-month visit visa and after marrying Shaheen Ara wants to take her along to China, said the family of the girl.
