Begging, fund collections banned in Lower Chitral
CHITRAL: The district administration of Lower Chitral on Thursday banned begging and collection of funds for any purpose in the jurisdiction of the district.
A notification issued from the office of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Imran stated that under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the ban has been imposed on begging and unauthorized collection of funds for any purpose.
It said there had been a significant increase in the arrival of beggars in Chitral from other districts of Pakistan under the pretext of collecting donations for mosques and religious schools.
Many beggars were also visiting areas adjacent villages of the city, entering people’s homes and sitting in front of mosques to beg.
There is a strong possibility that some of the individuals may have links to criminal networks, thereby posing threat to the security and peace of Chitral. So, it’s necessary to take preventive measures and put a ban on begging and unauthorized collection of funds.
The ban will come into effect immediately and remain in force for three months. Any person found violating the ban will ve prosecuted under Section 188 of Pakistan Penal Code, it added.
