USA beat Pakistan in major T20 World Cup upset
DALLAS (UNITED STATES): In the 11th match of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at Grand Pararies Stadium here, Pakistan and the United States played a thriller with the match ending in a super over.
Pakistan scored 159 runs in the allocated 20 overs with the loss of seven wickets. In reply, the host team also scored 159 runs in the 20 hours but for the loss of three wickets.
Then a super over was played in which while batting first the USA put up 18 runs for the loss of one wicket. Chasing the 19-run target in six balls, Pakistan could score 13 runs.
Earlier, Captain of the American team Monank Patel won the toss and decided to bowl.
Pakistan ran into trouble from the beginning as half of its players were sent back to the pavilion after scoring just 125 runs. Top three players of the national team could score just 26 runs in the power play. Muhammad Rizwan scored nine runs, Usman Khan three and Fakhar Zaman 11 runs.
Moreover, Shadab scored 40 runs while Azam Khan returned to the pavilion without scoring any run. Babar Azam scored 44 runs in 43 balls, Iftikhar Ahmed 18 runs while Shaheen Afridi made 23 runs in 16 balls and remained not out.
