PESHAWAR: Police here have arrested a man from Chitral on the charge of trying to smuggle antiquities worth millions of rupees.
According to the police, on a tip off, a police team led by SHO Paharipura Aqib Khan started checking vehicles at a picket near Haji Camp. The police stopped a car and during search recovered antiquities in the vehicle and arrested the suspect.
The arrested man was later identified as Sher Wali, son of Akbar Wali, of Chitral.
The police said that after completing legal formalities, the arrested man along with the seized antiquities would be handed over to the department concerned.
It was not clear from where the suspect had acquired the antiquities and where he was shifting them. The genuineness of the recovered antiquities are also to be confirmed by experts.
