ISLAMABAD: PML-N leader and foreign minister Ishaq Dar has been appointed as the deputy prime minister with immediate effect, the government announced on Sunday.
“The Prime Minister has been pleased to designate Mr Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, as Deputy Prime Minister with immediate effect and until further orders,” read a notification issued by the Cabinet Division.
Dar is the second deputy prime minister appointed in any government. Earlier, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi was also appointed as the deputy prime minister.
