Flooding in nullahs blocks Chitral road again

CHITRAL: Hundreds of people remained stranded at different points on Chitral-Dir road again due to flooding in streams and nullahs following rain, especially at Kaldam Gol in Drosh on Friday.

The road was also blocked at Minakhor near Lowari tunnel. At Kaldam Gol in Drosh, a car got stuck in the middle of the flooding nullah which was later towed out using a tractor. Students of colleges while returning home also stranded for hours.

Some of the female students told ChitralToday that due to absence of a bridge over the stream they face frequent issues while crossing the water. They said due to repeated demands, the NHA failed to construct the bridge.

After the flooding today, the NHA sent a tractor to the site but that could not remove even the debris accumulated on the road at one side of the nullah.

Meanwhile, passengers also remained stranded at Minokhor on the Dir side of the tunnel due to high flooding in the nullah. A vehicle also overturned in the gushing water however there was no report of any casualties.
