Five Chinese killed in suicide attack
ISLAMABAD: Five Chinese nationals, including a woman, and one Pakistani were killed a suicide attacker targeted their convoy in Bisham tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Shangla district.
The local police confirmed that four Chinese men and one woman had died in the attack along with a Pakistani man. They said the suicide attacker rammed an explosive-laden car into the vehicle of the Chinese nationals.
In Islamabad, China’s embassy asked the government to arrest the culprits and bring them to justice. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the Chinese embassy and met the ambassador and expressed grief over the incident. He assured the Chinese ambassador that all those behind the dastardly attack would be brought to justice.
Malakand deputy inspector general of police (DIG) said that the Chinese nationals were engineers who were going to Dasu camp, Kohistan from Islamabad. He said that a Pakistani citizen who was driving the targeted car was injured in the attack and was shifted to a local hospital. Later, the driver succumbed to his wounds during treatment.
