Karimabad road reopened after two weeks

CHITRAL:  The road to Karimabad valley of Lower Chitral has been reopened after remaining blocked since March 2 due to heavy snowfall. Thousands of people living in the valley remained stranded for almost two weeks.

Village Council Chairman Sher Faraz Khan said shopkeepers had stocks of essential commodities for a maximum of three days, but the road remained closed for almost two weeks after the heavy snowfall and subsequent avalanches and landsliding at different places.

A spokesman for the C&W department said after the recent snowfall they reopened blocked roads to Barenis Gol, Prait, Phasti, Mori Lasht, Golain, Kuju Bala, Kuju Pain, Abdul Wali Khan Baipass road, Hospital Road, DC Office road, Mughalandeh, Hon Faizabad, Dum Shughur, Bakarabad, Dolomos, Langland School Road, Singure, Denin and Gahtak.
