CHITRAL: An injured golden eagle rescued by local people was on Monday released into its natural habitat after being treated by the wildlife department.
The eagle was rescued during the recent heavy snowfall in Muldeh locality of Chitral town by the residents. Later, it was handed over to the wildlife department Chitral.
The bird was then treated for injuries at the dispensary of the livestock department for a few days.
After its injuries healed up, the precious eagle was taken to the Chitral Gol National Park and released into the natural habitat.
It may be recalled that a golden eagle found in Chitral in an injured condition had died three years ago.
The office of the deputy commissioner today appreciated the locals who rescued the bird and handed it over to the wildlife department.
Golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) is a bird of prey living in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the most widely distributed species of eagle. Like all eagles, it belongs to the family Accipitridae. They are one of the best-known birds of prey in the Northern Hemisphere.
