Police command and control center opened in Chitral

CHITRAL: A police command and control center was opened at the Khidmat Center in Lower Chitral on Thursday.

Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakthunkhwa Akhtar Hayat Khan inaugurated the center in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Imran Khan Yousufzai, District Police Officer Qamar Hayat Khan and other officials.

The IGP on the occasion was told by incharge of the control room SI Aman Ullah that security cameras had been installed at entry and exit points of Chitral and all important points, including markets, roads and key installations, in the district. 

He said currently 71 cameras installed in these areas and entry and exit points had been linked with the control and command center.

The control center will remain operational round the clock, he added.

It may be mentioned that the center was first inaugurated 11 months ago by District Police Officer Nasir Mehmood.

Speaking on the occasion today, the IGP said like Chitral control centers had been set up in 18 districts of the province while work was ongoing on the establishment of the centers in other districts.

He said the establishment of the modern centers would help monitor suspicious elements and check crime besides regulating traffic on roads and highways.

The IGP also visited the Yadgar-e-Shuhada and laid wreths there.
