Two shot dead in Kaldam Gol of Drosh over land pasture

DROSH: The dead bodies of two persons believed to have been murdered over a land dispute were recovered from a forest at Kaldam Gol in Drosh on Wednesday.

The victims belonged to Shahnigar area of Drosh. They have been identified as Ashraf Nabi, son of Gul Nayab, and Ihsanuddin, son of Nehrabuddin.  The dead bodies were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Drosh for postmortem.

According to the FIR, Waheedullah, son of Gul Nayab, told the police that his brother Ashraf Nabi along with a neighbour Ihsanuddin was bringing firewood from Muxo Ghari in Kaldam Gol when they were shot dead by Noor Alam of Shahnigar at Banda Noor Alam at about 5:30am.

The complaint said after killing the two, the suspect along with his family escaped from their house.

The incident occurred due to a dispute between the residents and Gujjar community and the local people over the ownership of the forestland.

Waqar Ahmed, chairman of Shahnigar union council, told ChitralToday that Noor Alam from the Gujjar community had constructed a house at Muxo Ghari area which was a community pasture.

The two men were bringing firewood when armed men opened fire on them from the back and then attacked them with axes.

Superintendent of police (investigation) Abdul Sattar Khan told Dawn that Ashraf and Ihsanuddin were shot down allegedly by Noor Alam.  He said the killer fled the area along with his family.

The SP said the suspect had been booked under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and efforts were underway to arrest him.
