FIR registered over obscene video on social media

CHITRAL: The Chitral City Police have registered an FIR after a video showing a man having obscene acts with a boy in a car went viral on social media a few days ago.

The police registered the case on the complaint of Mukhtar Shah, who is chairman of a civil society organization called Movement for the Protection of the Rights of People of Chitral.

Though the complainant highlighted serious consequences of the obscene acts, the police registered the case under Section 294 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) along with sections 48, 50 and 53 of the Child Protection and Welfare Act.

Section 294 of the PPC makes engaging in obscene acts, or singing, reciting or uttering obscene songs, ballads or words, in or near any public place, to the annoyance of others.

This is an offence punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine, or with both.

According to the FIR, the suspect under the pretext of teaching the boy how to drive gets involved in “strange unnatural kisses” and other obscene acts with him, and after making a video shared it on social media, sending a very wrong, unethical message in the society.

The FIR said such acts were prohibited in Islam and during the life of the holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) anyone found involved in such sins were stoned.

Such videos can also be used as blackmailing tactics against the victims for their whole life. Moreover, due to societal pressure, the victims can also end their life by committing suicide.

The applicant requested the police to trace the culprit and take action against him for committing the unnatural offence and spreading it in society to spread obscenity and tarnish the image of the people.
