All efforts to save Reshun from further damages, says UN official
CHITRAL: United Nations (UN) resident coordinator for Pakistan Julien Harneis on Friday vowed to make every effort to save the scenic village of Reshun from further damages from river and glacial lake outburst floods.
He stated this during a visit to the area where he met the local residents and government officials, according to a statement by the district administration of Upper Chitral.
Mr Harneis told local notables and members of Reshun Glof Project that the UN preferred working in coordination with the local government department and civil society organizations to achieve far-reaching and sustainable results.
Meanwhile, the UN coordinator during his visit in Lower Chitral met stakeholders at the DC office. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali briefed the official about UN-funded projects in Chitral.
Mr Harneis expressed satisfaction over the UN work and promised to help the government for the progress in the area. He said the UN would continue working for progress and development in education, healthcare, human rights and poverty elimination besides steps to minimize impact of natural calamilties.
