Fair elections top priority: caretaker CM

PESHAWAR: Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan assumed charge on Saturday.

In a statement issued from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Mr Khan stated that holding free and fair elections in the province was the top most priority of his government for which all administrative support will be extended to the Election Commission of Pakistan.

He clarified that conduct of elections was the mandate of the Election Commission for which every support will be extended to ensure that the mandate of people was valued.

The chief minister maintained that law and order situation exists in the province. However, every effort will be made for improving law and order and ensure maintenance of peace.

He stated that his government will take up the issue of financial pendency of the province with the federal government especially with the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He clarified that the government will go all out for the release of funds outstanding with the federal government. The chief minister concluded that concrete steps will be taken for the promotion of good governance in the province.
