Contractors allege bungling in projects
CHITRAL: A group of contractors here alleged corruption in the tender process by Public Works Department (PWD) for development projects being carried out in different parts of Chitral under the MNA funds.
Speaking at a press conference, Contractors Association Chitral chairman Mughal Baz Khan and others said that on June 18 tenders were invited at the PWD office in Batkhela for the prjcets to be executed under three packages across Chitral under the MNA funds.
As usual, contractors were not provdied with tender forms. Though the tender forms were later given to the contractors on court order the all projects were awarded to a blue-eyed contractor even though there were nine construction companies more efficient than the one picked.
Moreover, the blue-eyed contractor was paid millions of rupees in advance even before issuance of the work orders. All this was done by the PWD officials in alleged connivance with the MNA Molana Abdul Akber Chitrali, they alleged.
They said all the projects were being executed under the MNA funds and despite open corruption in the award of contracts the silence of the lawmaker from Chitral was intriguing.
The contractors called upon the government to probe the alleged corruption and take action agains those involved in it
