Covid-19 victim laid to rest under govt’s SOP

CHITRAL: Popular social personality of Ayun, Asif Jah, passed away in Islamabad due to the novel coronavirus on Thursday.

His body was brought home on Friday. Under the direction of the government, the body was buried by Rescue 1122 after following the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the health department, said Rescue 1122 in a statement.

ChitralToday learnt that despite the COVID-19 pandemic a large number of people attended the funeral of Asif Jah that too without caring for the precautions.

It may be mentioned that so far two deaths have been reported from the coronavirus inside Chitral while two retired bank officials from Chitral died in Karachi, one young engineer from Upper Chitral passed away in Saudi Arabia, one native of Booni died of the virus in the USA and a trader from Chitral passed away in Peshawar.

It has been learnt that a number of people across Chitral have contracted the virus and have been isolated in their homes. But they have neither get their families tested nor informed the authorities about people with whom they had come into contact recently.

So far, the government could not set up a facility to test suspected patients for the coronavirus and samples are still being sent for testing.
