Chitral varsity students take part in project contest
CHITRAL: Students of Department of Management Sciences, University of Chitral, participated in the National Project Competition 2020 held at Dawood University of Engineering and Technology Karachi from February 23 to 24.
The team included Mr. Irfan Uddin, Ms. Irfana Muskan, Ms. Hashima, Ms. Laiba Gulab, Ms. Hanifa and Ms. Ruqayya who all hail from Garam Chashma, says a press release.
Their project, “Garam Chashma recycling and décor” is a social enterprise focusing on women empowerment through providing jobs to financially underprivileged females and cleaning the environment simultaneously.
The students collect hard waste such as plastic bottles, tins, wrappers, checkboards, polythene bags, milk and juice tetra packs, biscuit boxes etc. and after sanitizing turn them into useful and fancy products such as trays, stools, chairs, decoration pieces, frames, pen holders, bread boxes etc.
About 40 prominent universities including IBA, NCA, NUST, Aga Khan University Karachi, University of Karachi, Dow University participated in the competition and University of Chitral was the only university from KP.
The social enterprise of students was highly appreciated and Governor Sindh, Mr. Imran Ismail paid a special visit to the stall and highly appreciated the amazing entrepreneurial idea of the students. Students’ mentor, Asst. Prof. Mansoor Ullah Baig thanked Sybrid for sponsoring students’ travel to and from Karachi.
