Local officer as ADC Upper Chitral welcomed

DROSH: Muhammad Irfanuddin from Drosh, who has been appointed as the first additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of the newly-created Upper Chitral district, was garlanded when he reached Drosh Chowk on way to Booni to take charge on Friday.

Addressing the gather, Drosh bar president Ikram Hussain, traders union chief Gul Nawaz, Qari Jamal Abdul Nasir and Salahuddin Toofan said the bifurcation of Chitral and appointment of the local officer as the ADC was a welcome development.

They said only Chitrali officers could understand the issues of Chitral and easily get them resolved.

They also said Irfan was a hard working and honest officer and would hopefully play his due role in the development of the new district.

Mr Irfan from Drosh is a Provincial Management Service (PMS) officer and has worked as the assistant commissioner Hayatabad Peshawar, assistant political agent Bajaur and Kuram agencies.

  1. New district should get experienced DC and other staff to put things in order and working. A new district with inexperienced staff starting from scratch seems unlikely to deliver.
