CM seeks report on two CPEC power projects in Chitral

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mehmood Khan Monday sought progress report on two 610MW hydro power projects under CPEC in Chitral.

Addressing a meeting on energy projects under CPEC, the CM directed the officials concerned to give legal opinion about the privileges being sought by the company working on the projects.

He said the government is giving attractive incentives for promotion of investment in the province however cannot overlook legal aspect in this case.

Mr Khan asked the concerned board to look into the matter and decide how could the projects be executed on speedy basis. He further directed Department of Energy and Power to hold meeting with Power Division in Islamabad and remove hurdles in this regard.

The CM emphasized upon execution of projects under CEPC by well renowned companies without compromising on quality. He said that currently there are 23 different sites in the province where feasibility studies have been completed and there is dire need to develop these sites through long-term planning.

The KP government is committed to taking the province towards progress at fast pace and would not tolerate lethargy at any part, the CM warned. He directed the officials concerned to ensure implementation of AGN Qazi formula in the energy sector.

He noted that 80,000 MW electricity could be generated by using different available resources in the province, adding that the present government is determined to bring the country out of power crisis and in consultation with the centre would sort out some solution.–APP
