Govt asked to fullfil promise of paying honorarium to prayer leaders

CHITRAL: A local government representative has called upon the provincial government to fulfill its promise of paying honorarium to prayer leaders of mosques and senior citizens.
In a statement, union council Terich general councillor Azam Khan said that a few years ago all the prayer leaders and scores of senior citizens had been asked to submit forms to get the honorarium. Many prayer leaders and senior citizens from far-off areas had to visit Chitral town to get their blood grouping tested and submit the forms along with their photos. This cost every candidate Rs10,000 to Rs15,000.
Even though the PTI again formed government in KP, it has not honoured its promise of paying the honorarium to the prayer leaders, he said. He asked the government to start paying the monthly honorarium otherwise the prayer leaders and senior citizens would be forced to launch a protest.–Syed Nazir Husain
