10 shopkeepers fined for selling substandard, expired items

CHITRAL: At least 10 shopkeepers were fined for selling substandard and expired edible items and maintaining poor cleanliness in their business centres in the local bazaar.

Tehsil Municipal Officer Qadir Nasir and other officials carried out a checking of the bazaars during which they ordered registration of cases against a number of shopkeepers.

The people of the town meanwhile demanded that the local administration should carry out such checking on a regular basis and take action against those who encroached on public thoroughfares and wasted water into roads.

All structures illegally built on state land should be razed, they also said. –S. Nazir Hussain

  1. The wall with posters of last general elections still smeared on it three months after the elections demands equal attention but apparently that is being overlooked as appears from the picture.

  2. Mostly poor vendors are checked and their cabins demolished in such checking. They are deprived of their least hand to mouth earning.
