Govt urged to accept demands of protesting chemists
MASTUJ: Village Council (VC) Khuz Nazim Noor Ajam Noorani calls upon KP government to accept demands of chemists so that they can end their strike.
Talking to ChitralToday, the nazim expressed concerns over the closure of medical stores and said patients in the remote area were suffering the most.
He urged the district administration and the health minister of KP to intervene and resolve the issue.
He said due to the strike all medical stores in Mastuj area were closed. He said the government should take the matter seriously and accept the genuine demands of the protesters.
The Chemists and Druggists Association (CDA), Malakand division, on Sunday announced to observe the shutdown strike against new amendments to the 1976 Drug Act. The chemists and drug dealers have opposed the government decision of abolishing the category-C licences of pharmacies.
Chemists and Drug Association President Imran Hussain and Pharma Distribution Association President Murad Khan, Fakhre Alam and others said the government would render more than 100,000 persons jobless in KP.
They said over 3,500 chemists would launch protest in Malakand division alone.
