Protesters set deadline for power supply to Ayun

After passing about six kilomteres distance to Broz, the participants of the rally held a gathering where former MNA Maulana Abdul Akbar, Akhonzada Fazle Wahid, Nusrat Azad, Wazir Zada, Maulana Rehmat Naeem Shah, Ghafar Zaman and others said the residents never objected to installation of heavy pylons on their agricultural land in the hope that they would get electricity. But they regretted that even after the completion of the Golen Gol power house, the residents of Broz were without the basic requirement of electricity. Maulana Abdul Akbar on the occasion gave a deadline of three days to the federal government to provide power to the area otherwise he said a protest sit-in would be staged from coming Sunday. He said everyone was trying to take credit for the 108 megawatt powerhouse but the people of Chitral were thankful to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for providing funds for the mega project. Addressing the protesters at Jutilasht grid station, district nazim Maghfirat Shah said no one could even dare to take the Golen Gol electricity out of Chitral without electrifying each and every village of the district. He said the  people of Broz, Gahiret and Ayun should not think that they were alone in the protest against non-provision of power to them but people from across Chitral right from Yarkhun to Torkhow to Garam Chashma to Arandu were behind them in the struggle for their right. The protesters were chanting slogans against WAPDA and calling for immediate supply of electricity to their localities without any further delay. –Syed Nazir Hussain Shah]]>
