District admin applauded for patronizing Qaqlasht festival

shuja copy In a press release after holding a meeting chaired by committee’s vice-president Mukhtar Ahmed Sangeen and attended by its secretary information Shuja Uddin Lal and others, the committee expressed the hope that the government would continue patronizing the annual festival in order to promote and explore Chitral’s cultural and traditional games and sports besides attracting tourists from outside the valley. The committee extended its special gratitude to the AC Mastuj for including in the festival for the first time two new events – Qaqlasht motor jeep spots and fireworks (atashbazi) this year, that added more colours to the festival. “This year, the tehsil administration had put in place all the arrangements well in advance,” the committee added. About the allegations leveled by Prince Sultan ul Mulk, the committee said: “In order to ensure transparency, the local administration had thrust Prince Sultan ul Mulk on the management committee as its head but unlike the previous years he did not get a chance to utlilize the availble funds at his own will and at the end of the festival pointed fingers at the administration. There is no reality in the allegations made by him.” The committee demanded that the two MPAs of Chitral should talk to the provincial government to ensure that Qaqlasht festival is included in the annual calendar festivals of the province, so that like the Shandur festival this event in Chitral also got patronage at the government level.]]>
