Relief provided to flood, quake-hit communities: Khattak

He stated that the provincial government had released Rs.11.5 billion to the district administrations for the payment of compensation to the affected people. He was speaking at a “Partners workshop on recovery and rehabilitation of earthquake and flood damaged areas of KP” in Islamabad on Thursday.

Besides Chief Secretary KP Amjid Ali Khan, Provincial Ministers Enayatullah Khan, Ikramullah Gandhapur and Muzaffar Sayed, ambassadors of Japan, European Union, a large number of diplomats and country heads of international NGOs participated in the workshop.

The chief minister acknowledged the support of all stakeholders who took part in the relief activities and thanked the Army, NDMA, PDMA, and the district administrations for their proactive role in rescue and relief operations. He said his government was fully committed to be engaged in effective, comprehensive and result oriented planning.

He reaffirmed his government’s conviction towards well conceived and properly planned reconstruction and rehabilitation work in the affected areas of the province. The participants pledged to jointly work for the rehabilitation of the affected population to ensure sustainable development in the area.
