Govt seeks Korean loan to build Malakand tunnel

The tunnel would also reduce traffic accidents and achieve the target of a balanced development across the country. An official of the National Highway Authority (NHA) told this news agency here that the proposed Malakand Tunnel was part of federalized Nowshehra-Chitral Highway (N-45) which passes through Mardan, Malakand and Chakdara. The NHA official said that the road passes over Malakand height between Dargai and Batkhela. He said N-45 functions as a major North-South trunk road connecting Grand Trunk Road (N-5). He said the NHA hired the services of M/s Yooshin Engineering Corporation in association with Dongsung Engineering Co. Ltd. of Korea for the detailed design and construction supervision of the Malakand Tunnel construction project. He said that the consultant had started the detailed design from June 15, 2015.—APP]]>
