By the way, a grade 22 officer is not a tiny government servant (he is a secretary to the Govt. of Pakistan) nor an Assistant commissioner posted at Chitral. Chitralis think that bureaucrats posted at Chitral enjoy too much. In reality, its not. All the officers of the civil service posted at Chitral spend very simple life. You have not seen the level of protocol extended to officers posted at FATA or other cities. If any officer takes with him a gunman, it does not mean he is enjoying too much in Chitral. It means that, he is working for the government, performing such job wherein sometimes his life is in danger and in this situation it is the responsibility of the government to protect his life.In Dir or Swat an AC take 3 to 4 gunmen with him, because the level of risk is high. In my opinion, instead of being jealous from your officers and giving comments in disguise, you should think positively and concentrate on educating your children to rise to such elevated positions in society. If you have any complaint about any AC regarding protocol or using too much power why do not you suit them or why do not you approach any court of law, NAB or even Ehtesab Commission. Speaking negatively about people for nothing shows ones personality and his or her level of thinking. I feel pity to see Chitralis giving sweeping statements and always speak ill will against people for none. Your such behavior does not suit Chitrali culture. Please be positive and be different from tiny government servants!

It is totally violation, using the governmental power for his own protocol, but nation is facing tragedy after tragedy. We never see the great General of Pakistan Army to exhibit such activity, people are suffering from a lot of difficulties in Chitral after flood devastating situation, so I am really pleased to see the comments of living people and courageous modern educated youth expression that they are so thoroughly expressing their feeling about our problems. Insha’Allah it will bring the change in our city. I salute you all my great people of my city, Chitral!

It is disgusting to see bureaucrats being given protocol like the imperialist days. Times have changed. All senior people whether politicians bureaucrats or army officers should not demand nor given unnecessary protocol. It only shows our backwardness and slavishness. In civilised countries even the head of government leads a low key public life and spends energies on working and not burdening the people with nonsensical protocols.

Tiny govt officers after their posting in Chitral consider themselves as king and men of superior origin because there is no one who can challenge them in this land of wilderness. What to talk of other people, if you look at our worthy MNA and MPAs they run after each other to welcome bureaucrats coming from outside Chitral. The MPAs and MNA are public representatives and it is contemptuous for the people of Chitral when they go out and welcome govt officers. Here one should not say that we are Chitralis and famous for our hospitality.
I also fully agree with the above commentators that this is disgusting to see a tiny govt officer even in grade 22 to be treated like this. We should be careful that most of these officials are invited to Chitral by their subordinates already posted in the district so that by taking full advantage of the people’s simplicity they can be served and pleased as a bribe to prolong their posting in the area. It is also against our culture that everyone goes to Kalash valley to enjoy dance and other parties.

Aslam Sahib. If the so-called Mehtar is given protocol for nothing, then why not to a divisional commissioner? And why you people are so jealous of our Assistant Commissioners? They are not usurpers. They have, what they are entitled for from the government. Have you ever seen the protocol extended to DPO Chitral? He is a grade 18 officer and has more than 10 gunmen with him with two Vigos. Ponder over it.
Photos being circulated over social media show the worthy visitor being escorted by horsemen. Height of sycophancy and whoever has this novel idea of welcoming is perhaps least concerned about the peril being faced by Chitralis. Are we back to colonial era and a “Company Bahader” is visiting the district? The need of the hour is immediate and smart action and not gimmicks like this which is conveying a negative image of the civil service.
