CHITRAL, Aug 21: This bridge near Mastuj in upper Chitral was constructed during the tenure of former president Pervez Musharraf. It provides an all-weather access route to Mastuj, Laspur and Yarkhun valleys.
The Aug 2015 flash floods played havoc with the haggard road infrastructure in Chitral. Scores of bridges connecting different sub-valleys with each other were either washed away completely or partially damaged. According to MNA Shahzada Iftikhar Uddin, billions of rupees are needed to reconstruct the damaged roads and bridges. The Mastuj bridge, however, remained intact during the rains and flash floods.
