Shelving of streetlights project stayed

BOONI, July 2: The traders union of Booni has obtained a stay order from the local court against MNA Chitral Shahzada Iftikhar Uddin’s decision to shelve a project to install streetlights in the Booni bazaar.
After granting the stay order till the next hearing of the case, the senior civil judge Booni issued notices to the concerned departments who have been made respondents by the traders. The court also made part of its record a story published in this online newspaper regarding the shelving of the project on June 26.
It may be noted that on June 19, the MNA through an administrative approval announced to abandon the project launched under the Millennium Development Goals in the area. Under the announcement, the funds allocated for the streetlights project would be spent on other small development works in different parts of upper Chitral.
