Newly-built Chakdara bridge opened

In view of its importance 11 Crops of Pak Army has constructed the bridge on an emergency basis in a short period of four weeks withstanding the passage of 40 tons of vehicles. Construction of the bridge was financed by National High Ways Authority and it would facilitate traffic to and the three districts of Malakand Division. It was informed that another permanent bridge tender for which had been released and awarded and would be completed within 18 months. The Chief Secretary on this occasion appreciated the efforts and service of the personnel of Pak Army for constructing the bridge on such a short notice and called upon them to continue cooperation and support of the civil administration for resolving the problems of the general masses. He also announced a grant of Rs. one hundred thousand and a shield for those personnel having constructed the bridge. With regard to the other permanent bridge, the Chief Secretary directed that it should be completed within 12 months instead of 18. Later, the Chief Secretary presided over a meeting wherein polio eradication drive in Malakand Division was discussed in detail. Officers from all government departments participated. It was informed that except the district of Buner through out the division including Bajaur agency the drive was successfully completed. He appreciated the personnel having taken place in the polio eradication drive and stressed upon all concerned to ensure the success of the government efforts for eradication of the disease and warned that no laxity in this regard will be allowed.]]>
