Profound lessons from Hayat-e-Tayiba

Profound lessons from Hayat-e-Tayiba

Muneeb ur Rehman

About a month ago, I read a book about the life of our holy prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) named Hayat-e-Tayiba, recommended to me by Sir Aqib.

I learned only a few traits and events of the life of the holy prophet because the book was very short, a summary of the life of our holy prophet (SAW). Then, I became curious to read another book about the life of our holy prophet. I saw a book in the hands of a friend which seemed to have more details about the life of Holy Prophet (SAW), and the book was Muhammad Arabi (SAW). I took that book from him, and probably, it took me a week or two weeks to read it completely not because the book was too big, it took me two weeks just because I was busy with the course books. Yesterday, I finished reading that book and thought to write a short summary of both of these two books.

The first book Hayat Tayiba (SAW), written by Muhammad Abdul Haa-e, is very short, easy to read. It is a short book but can provide a lot of knowledge to every single person reading it.

The second book was Muhammad Arabi (SAW), by Inayat Ullah Subhani, with a lot more details about the lifestyle of the Holy Prophet, the society where our holy prophet lived when he was a child, the society he changed, and the beautiful traits and hobbies of our holy Prophet HAZRAT MUHAMMAD (SAW). After reading these two books, I got a lot more awareness about the life of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW). I can\’t describe our holy prophet HAZRAT MUHAMMAD (SAW) personality, his character, his traits, and his entire life because I am devoid of words. His traits and his habits go beyond adjectives, but maybe I will be able to share a few prominent traits and hobbies of our prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW).

I will try to write a few of the good traits of the Holy Prophet (SAW). Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) was a thinker and a keen observer of society and the universe. He (SAW) used to sit alone in deserts and in the cave of Hira, away from the people even when he (SAW) was a 12-year-old boy. In simple, he was a thinker without being literate (before prophethood). He (SAW) was a tolerant person who forgave his enemies after conquering Makkah, who were throwing mud on him. He (SAW) was a truthful person, never lied in his entire life, and presented a practical example for us. Even his worst enemies used to call him (Sadiq) for his truthfulness.

He came under the weather only two times in his whole life of 63 years. He sent back a Hakim back to his country, saying that why a person would fall ill when he eats bit less than necessity and performs (wuzu) five times a day. He (SAW) was a humble person and never tried to be prominent in his friends.

Sometimes people coming from other cities to see him used to ask his name from people that where is the Rasool (SAW). He was a very simple and dignified person and never wore anything fancy to enhance his beauty. He never believed that personality depends on wearing fancy things. And one thing that amazed me about His personality is that He faced several problems that we can\’t even imagine.

A person for whom the whole universe has been created faced that many problems but why? He (SAW) cried but why? His (SAW) tooth was martyred in Uhud, why? His shoes were filled with his blood in Tayef, but why?

Why a person calling himself a Muslim is not asking these questions from himself?

He not only gave us Islam as a religion, he taught us how to live life. He taught us that DEEN is not all about praying five times, fasting in Ramadan, and going to Hajj; instead, DEEN is a complete way of life. He never ordered his friends to do good things instead he (SAW) did them by himself and gave practical examples. He never forced anyone to be Muslim, but the people who became Muslim were those who got inspired by the goodness and truthfulness of him.

He was a warrior and general in the battlefield, a loving and caring husband and father at home, a loyal friend, a good citizen of society, a just ruler, and a justice-loving judge. Always fought against the negative factors of society. But can any one of us say that we are following him properly?

We have forgotten what He (SAW) taught us; we have forgotten what is the purpose of our life and why Allah has created us. And to get back on track with what the prophet (SAW) has taught us, we have to study the life of HAZRAT MUHAMMAD (SAW).

In the end, I must say that both books I read were absolute gems and full of insights that changed my life, not only mine, these books will change the life of every single person reading them. While reading these books, tears came out of my eyes unconsciously, thinking of the hardships He and His companions faced to bring forth this beautiful deen-e-Islam for us.

Everyone must read at least a book about the life of HAZRAT MUHAMMAD (SAW) and His character; In every single home, there has to be a book on his personality and character.

(May Allah be benign to everyone)
