CHITRAL: A Karate coaching centre has, for the first time, been established in Chitral town.
The Al-Ashraf Karate Centre/Club has started training youngsters on Shotogan Karate at the Chitral Public School and College.
In a social media post, Muhammad Ilyas Ahmed said: \”I have taken part in inter-divisional Karate championship and have also imparted Karate training in different places in the past.\”
He thanked the principal of the school, Mr Wajihuddin, for taking interest in the initiative. However, he complained that Karate uniforms for the youngsters were not available in the local bazars.
\”We have chosen the name for the centre on two reasons: first it is a noble initiative and second it is named after Ashraf Uddin, the founder of the school. The school was established at a time when those in power were adamant on keeping the people of Chitral backward and uneducated. In the history of Chitral, this school and later Sayurj Public School gave the Chitralis voice to speak up against others.\”
Good initiative. Healthy activity. Well done.
