Govt to Include Broghil Road, Chitral Nursing College Projects in ADP

Peshawar, March 5, 2026: The KP government has decided to include the Mastuj-Broghil Road and Chitral Nursing College projects in the upcoming annual development programme.

The decision was made at a meeting of parliamentarians from the Malakand Division which reviewed development projects and discussed future initiatives for the area on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi.

Participants held detailed consultations on ongoing mega development projects, the upcoming Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2026–27, and proposals for new schemes across the Malakand region. Several key decisions were taken to accelerate development, strengthen infrastructure, and improve access to services in the education, health, and connectivity sectors.

During the meeting, the chief minister decided to formally initiate construction work on Swat Motorway Phase II, stating that completion of the project would significantly enhance economic activity in the Malakand region and promote tourism.

The meeting also reviewed progress on the Provincial Transmission Line Project Phase II. The chief minister directed the relevant authorities to take effective measures to remove obstacles delaying the project, stressing that timely completion of the transmission line is essential for utilizing electricity generated from the province’s hydropower potential.

Afridi also directed departments to expedite preparatory work for the establishment of Shaheed Arshad Sharif University of Investigative and Modern Journalism. He further instructed officials to accelerate progress on the Livestock University project and ensure early completion of the Engineering University project under the DFC scheme.

Emphasizing timely completion of development initiatives, the chief minister said mega projects in the Malakand region nearing completion must be finalized within stipulated timelines, while work on newly approved schemes should begin without delay so that the public can benefit at the earliest.

The meeting also agreed in principle to upgrade hospitals in various districts of the Malakand region in line with local needs. The chief minister reiterated that improving public healthcare services remains one of the government’s top priorities.

On the occasion, Afridi announced that designated royalty accounts would be established to ensure that revenues received under royalty arrangements are directly utilized for development in the respective districts.

The meeting also discussed several other infrastructure and education initiatives, including Rustam–Ambela Road, Mastuj-Broghi Road and Chitral Nursing College, and agreed in principle to include them in the upcoming development programme.

The chief minister directed parliamentarians to identify priority development schemes for their constituencies by March 15, adding that follow-up meetings would begin next week to ensure timely planning and effective implementation of development projects across the region.
