Plea Filed by Sana Yousaf’s Killer Against Trial Court Dismissed

Islamabad, Feb 28, 2026: The Islamabad High Court has dismissed a petition filed by the killer of Islamabad-based Chitral social media star Sanaa Yousuf against the trial court.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro issued a written verdict stating that the trial court proceedings were free of legal flaws, irregularities, or jurisdictional errors. The accused was present in the trial court via video link, which is legally considered valid attendance.
The decision further stated that the trial court’s order sheets are recognized as accurate and authentic. Courts have a legal responsibility to hold daily hearings for the speedy resolution of cases. Under Article 10A, the right to a speedy trial serves the broader public interest. Lawyers are required to prioritize the progress of the case over personal convenience.
The court noted that raising allegations against a judicial officer purely based on apprehensions is improper, as impartiality is inherently linked to judicial proceedings. It instructed that if there are further delays, the suspect should be provided a state-appointed lawyer.

Additionally, lawyers must refrain from making unverified allegations against the trial court in the future.
The petition had requested that witness statements recorded in the absence of the suspect and his lawyer be invalidated.
