Politics, in essence, is the process through which power, authority, resources and decision making in a society are managed through justice and fairness. It is another name for public service and the welfare of the people. Through, political process, collective societal affairs are organized and decisions are made in the best interests of the public. A good politician is one who is disciplined, honest, visionary and free from corruption.
In the context of Pakistan, politics is often considered a complex and challenging process. Various factors such as power dynamics amongst different groups, institutionalpressures, economic and democratic instability negatively affect political values and continuity of democracy. The public demands results, while the slow pace of the system and limited resources restraint progress. In such circumstances it is not easy for a dedicated politician to adhere to principles. Yet this very difficult situation highlights that politics in Pakistan is not merely acquiring power but a continuous struggle for meaningful changes.
MPA Fatehul Mulk Ali Nasir is a well-mannered and highly educated politician, belongs to Lower Chitral. He was born in 1983 . His father, HH Saiful Mulk Nasir was the last ruler of Chitral. After his father passing, he was designated as the honorary Mehtar of Chitral in 2012 in grand darbar at Chitral fort. He holds an LLB (Hons) degree from the University of Birmingham and an LLM degree from the University of Miami. After completing his education he registered as an advocate in the Peshawar high court through the Khyber Pukhtunkhwa bar council. He also obtained a certificate in international Environmental Law from UNITAR (United Nations Institute for Training and Research). He is also a capable writer and has authored numerous articles on history, culture, fishing, archaeology and geo-politics ,many of which have been published in the Friday Times.
In the 2024 general elections, he was elected as member of the provincial assembly from lower Chitral on the ticket of PTI. He won the election. His victory marked that first time Pakistan Tehrik Insaf secured this seat, especially during a difficult and challenging phase for the party. Since becoming MPA, his main focus has remained to serve his constituency .He firmly believes that the true purpose of politics is not acquisition of power, but to ease the lives of the people by addressing their issues. Guided by this principle, he consistently strives to provide proper direction to the public and strengthen institutions.
Although, he scion of a royal family, there is no sense of arrogance or superiority in his personality. He prefers a simple live style and actively promotes chitrali culture in his personal life including traditional attire such as the Chitral cap and cloak, which is highly commendable.
He has always tried to remain aligned with the vision and ideology of Imran Khan and to implement it in practical life. He firmly believes that Khan Sahib has worked to guide Pakistan towards a direction based on justice, rule of law, transparency and the protection of the rights of ordinary citizens in Pakistan. In his views Imran Khan is not just leader but the founder of a reformist movement aimed at establishing a system in Pakistan where both the powerful and the weak stand equal before law. Therefore, he strives to reflect this vision in his political conduct and speech.
One of his defining qualities is that he holds no grudge against anyone. He believes that human beings are prone to mistakes and true greatness lies in learning from those mistakes and transforming them into opportunities for improvement. He encourages constructive criticism and upholds ethical values in politics. He refrains character assassination, personal attack or baseless allegations against his opponents. For him difference of opinions are not enmity but the beauty of democracy, which should be respected.
He is known for his cheerful personality, often seem smiling and his conversations include a touch of light humour.Through his positive attitude ,he not only keeps himself content but also creates as source of comfort and ease for others. His style of communication foster a feeling of familiarity rather than distance and even in difficult situations he tries to maintain a light atmosphere to relieve stress.
Despite being relatively new to practical politics, his maturity of thought, ability to understand issues and capacity to make sound decisions demonstrate that he not just a nominal participant but a capable and determined figure in the political arena. I firmly believe, that his abilities, grooming, exposure, networks and strategic planning skills will play a positive role in the comprehensive development of Chitral (Inshallah), when intentions are pure the destination becomes easier to achieve.
