Taliban Positions Hit, Minister Among Dead

Islamabad, Feb 27, 2026: Pakistan conducted a major strike targeting Taliban forces in Spin Boldak, a strategic border district in Afghanistan, resulting in the death of Neda Mohammad Nadeem, the Taliban’s Minister of Higher Education and former governor of Nangarhar province.

According to military sources, the ongoing operations along the border resulted in the deaths of 133 Taliban fighters, with more than 200 others injured.

The air strikes reportedly destroyed 27 Taliban checkpoints, two corps headquarters, three brigade headquarters, two weapons depots, a logistics base, three battalion headquarters, two sector headquarters, and over 80 tanks, artillery pieces, and armored vehicles. Several outposts were also captured.

The reported killing of Nadeem marks a significant blow to the Taliban’s leadership, though the claims have not yet been independently verified by international news agencies or the Taliban government.
Pakistani officials stated that the operation was in response to cross‑border attacks from Afghan territory.

Afghanistan, however, has condemned the strikes as a violation of its sovereignty.
The situation has further escalated tensions along the Pakistan‑Afghanistan border, raising concerns about the potential for broader conflict.

Independent observers have yet to confirm casualty numbers or the extent of damage reported by Pakistani sources.
