Peshawar, Feb 19, 2026: The provincial government has officially approved the establishment of an FM radio station in Upper Chitral under the Information and Broadcasting Department, with Rs10.922 million allocated for the project.
Officials said the initiative will ensure timely dissemination of information, effective delivery of government messages, and promotion of constructive local journalism. The project will also create employment opportunities for local youth in radio journalism, technical operations, program production, and administrative roles, boosting both the local economy and talent development.
The development has been hailed as a milestone for progress, awareness, and job creation in the remote region of Upper Chitral.
The project was championed for over a year by Deputy Speaker of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Suriya Bibi, and has now received full administrative approval.
In addition, the Directorate of Digital Media has also been approved, which will formulate rules and regulations for digital media and oversee the legal allocation of government advertisements to digital platforms
