Complaint Filed Over Alleged Corruption In Upper Chitral Projects

Booni, Jan 30, 2026: A formal complaint has been submitted to the Anti-Corruption Department Upper Chitral regarding alleged financial irregularities and violations of rules and regulations in several development projects carried out in the district.

According to the complaint filed by Siraj Ali Advocate, District President of the People’s Lawyers Forum, during the financial year 2024–25, a clear discrepancy was observed between the estimated costs and ground realities of various development schemes in Upper Chitral.

In some projects, full payments were released despite substandard construction work, raising serious concerns about transparency and misuse of public funds.

The application pointed out that in certain schemes, mandatory procedures such as technical approvals, monitoring and proper implementation were ignored, increasing the risk of wastage and misappropriation of government resources.

Siraj Ali Advocate stated that an immediate audit of all such projects is essential and called for strict legal action against the responsible officers and contractors involved in the alleged irregularities.

He urged the Anti-Corruption Department to conduct a transparent inquiry into all released funds and ensure accountability by taking action against those found involved in embezzlement or misuse of public money.
