Chitral, Jan 22, 2026: Rain and snowfall have begun across Lower Chitral and its surrounding areas, prompting Rescue 1122 to place the district on high alert.
District Emergency Officer Sajid Ali Yousafzai has ordered enhanced emergency preparedness in the area.
In view of the severe weather conditions, Rescue 1122 teams deployed at Lower Chitral Headquarters, Lowari Tunnel, Drosh Stationand Kalash valleys have been put on high alert, while all leaves of rescue personnel have been cancelled.
The public has been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during rain and snowfall. In case of essential travel, citizens are urged to adopt precautionary measures, use snow chains, and drive vehicles in low gear to prevent accidents.
