Booni, Jan 16, 2026: A vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into the river near Kuragh early today, leaving a woman dead and 10 other passengers injured, according Rescue 1122 and hospital sources.
The deceased was identified as Nusrat Jabeen, wife of Ghulam Ilyas, resident of Lot Dok Booni. The 10 other people travelling in the vehicle sustained injuries and were shifted to the hospital in Booni by Rescue 1122 Upper Chitral.
Those injured in the accidents are: Mehnaz, daughter of Sharifuddin, sustained serious injuries and was referred for further medical treatment. Maheen Karim, daughter of Karimuddin, resident of Awi Lasht, Booni, received initial medical aid and was discharged. Muhammad Hussain, son of Muhammad Yousuf, resident of Dumadumi, received initial medical aid and was released. Haji Akbar, son of Muhammad Nadir Khan, resident of Kushum, received initial medical aid and was released.

Karimuddin, son of Dost Muhammad, resident of Awi Lasht, received initial medical aid and was released. Muhammad Ajab, son of Faizullah, resident of Rayin, driver and received initial medical aid before being released.
Ashiq Ali, son of Imtiaz, resident of Booni, and Fazal Muhammad, son of Zar Muhammad, resident of Madak, also received initial medical aid and sent home.
Eyewitnesses told ChitralToday that the flying coach was carrying 11 passengers from Peshawar to Booni when it slipped due to the frozen road between Charun and Kuragh and fell into the river due to lack of protection wall.
Onlookers gathered at the spot followed by Rescue 1122 and retrieved the passengers from the vehicle. Later, Rescue staffers shifted the injured to hospital and pulled out the vehicle from the river using machinery.
A day earlier, a jeep carrying six people fell off the mountain near Shogram village and as a result two persons, including a minor girl, lost their lives.
