ISLAMABAD, Jan 11, 2026: A cylinder explosion at a wedding house in Islamabad in the early hours of this morning killed eight people, including the bride and groom, besides injuring several others.
The incident took place in a slum area of Sector G-7/2, where wedding celebrations were underway. The explosion caused panic in the area, turning the joyful occasion into a scene of mourning.
Rescue officials and law enforcement agencies rushed to the site after receiving reports of the blast and launched relief operations. The explosion also damaged nearby houses.
The district administration of Islamabad confirmed that eight bodies and 10 injured individuals were recovered from the house. All injured persons were shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Nearby houses were also damaged in the explosion.
Officials stated that all those trapped had been rescued, and an investigation initiated to determine the cause of the cylinder explosion.
