Madrassa Teacher Arrested For Injuring Student’s Eye

Booni, Dec 27, 2025: Police in Upper Chitral have arrested a religious seminary (madrassa ) teacher for stabbing a student in the eye with a pen in Buzund village of Torkhow.
The incident took place at a madrassa run under the Jamiat Taleem-ul-Quran Trust. According to police and local sources, Sartajul Abideen lost his temper when a child laughed in the class and struck the student’s eye with a sharp pen, causing a deep and serous injury.
The student fell unconscious and instead of providing immediate medical assistance to him, the accused reportedly shut down the madrassa and attempted to flee. Local people gathered in the seminary and later police registered an FIR and arrested the accused who had gone into hiding.
The injured child was initially shifted to a medical center in Shagram, then to Booni, and later to Chitral. Due to the severity of the injury, doctors referred him to Peshawar, where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be critical but stable.
The incident has sparked widespread anger and concern among local residents and social activists. They have demanded strict monitoring of religious seminaries, proper registration, and the appointment of trained and authorized teachers only, to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
