Man Arrested, Sent Out of Chitral Over Offensive Video

CHITRAL, Dec 20, 2025: A young man involved in using offensive and objectionable language against girls of the Kalash community in a viral social media video has been arrested and sent to jail outside Chitral under Section 3 MPO.

According to the police, District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Chitral Riffatullah Khan took immediate notice of the viral video and constituted a special committee to investigate the incident.

After completing the inquiry, the committee submitted its report to the DPO, identifying the youth as Haider Ali Shah from Gilgit who was residing in Chitral and other related individuals. In light of the inquiry report, and in coordination with the district administration, the man from Gilgit was arrested and expelled from Chitral.

Additionally, an on-duty police constable was suspended for negligence, and departmental action initiated against him.

The police stated that strict legal action will also be taken against other individuals and social media pages found involved in spreading or promoting the offensive content.

The police warned that sharing hateful, insulting or provocative content on social media is unacceptable. The police reiterated that anyone found uploading or spreading such material, targeting any community or sect, sharing unverified content or operating fake social media accounts, groups or pages will be dealt with strictly under the Cyber Crime Act.
