PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly passed a resolution supporting the creation of a separate province for the Hazara region.
The resolution called on the federal government to immediately initiate the process required for the formation of Hazara province under Article 239 of the Constitution.
The resolution stresses that, in light of the public’s persistent demands, the federal government should begin the necessary constitutional steps to create Hazara as a new province without delay. Furthermore, the provincial government has been instructed to complete all required consultations and administrative procedures in a timely and effective manner to ensure a smooth transition.
The assembly believes that the establishment of Hazara province will fulfill the long-cherished aspirations of its people, granting them administrative autonomy and driving regional development. The KP government is also tasked with preparing recommendations regarding the new province’s structure, boundaries, and administrative framework, which will be presented to the relevant forums to prevent any delays in the constitutional process.
The demand for a Hazara province has been a major political issue for decades with the people of the region continuously advocating for the separation. This resolution marks a key milestone in their long struggle, bringing the dream of a Hazara province one step closer to reality.
