CHITRAL, Nov 20, 2025: A rare and endangered snow leopard has once again been captured on video in the Munor Valley of Garam Chashma, drawing the attention of wildlife authorities and conservationists.
According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department, the big cat was seen near a local settlement earlier this week. Following the sighting, wildlife teams were dispatched to monitor the animal’s movement and to ensure both community safety and species protection.
Officials said that while snow leopard activity had been reported in parts of Chitral in previous years, this latest confirmation is being regarded as an encouraging development for ongoing conservation efforts in the region.
The department has advised local residents to follow precautionary guidelines to avoid any conflict and to report any further sightings.
Authorities stressed that cooperation from the community is essential for safeguarding the endangered species and preserving its fragile mountain habitat.
Snow leopards are considered flagship species of the Hindu Kush range, and Chitral remains one of their important habitats in Pakistan.–APP
