Peshawar, Nov 14, 2025: The Peshawar High Court has prohibited the provincial government from utilizing state resources for political activities, including rallies and “million-man” marches. The court emphasized that the use of public funds and government assets for political purposes undermines public trust and violates the principles of good governance.
In its ruling, the court made it clear that using state resources for political events amounts to a misuse of power and corruption. The judges argued that such practices not only compromise the integrity of governmental institutions but also erode the public’s confidence in the political system.
“The diversion of public resources for political gain is not just an ethical violation; it is a breach of public trust,” the court remarked. “To maintain transparency and fairness, political activities should be conducted independently of state resources.”
The court’s decision is seen as a step toward ensuring that public funds are used exclusively for public welfare, rather than being exploited to further political agendas. It also underscores the judiciary’s commitment to promoting accountability and transparency within the government.
While many legal experts and citizens have welcomed the decision as a positive move for enhancing the integrity of democratic processes, the ruling has also sparked debate within political circles. Some argue that it could restrict political mobilization, while others believe it is essential for preventing the abuse of state resources.
