BOONI, Nov 14, 2025: To address the rising incidents of violence, particularly digital violence, in Chitral and to raise awareness among students, the Upper Chitral Press Club organized an awareness program at Government High School, Kosht.
During the session, journalist and researcher Kareem Ullah along with head constable Haseena Bibi from the Women’s Desk of Upper Chitral Police provided information on online harassment, its types, preventive measures and legal aspects.
The program was attended by Deputy Commissioner Upper Chitral Muhammad Imran Khan, Planning Officer Shamshir Ali Khan, Assistant Commissioner Torkhow-Morkhow Azra Bibi, SDPO Headquarters Amir Shah, Syed Nizakat Shah, and school faculty members. A large number of matric and FSC students participated in the program.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner praised the initiative and said students in remote areas often lack awareness about safe mobile and internet usage, making them vulnerable to criminal elements. He said such awareness programs were necessary. He assured the organizers full support from the district administration.
Second-year student Fatiya Feroz said the session provided valuable insights into digital violence and cybercrimes. Another student, Saahil, said in the modern era, awareness about responsible internet and mobile use along with knowledge of digital crimes was essential. He expressed gratitude to the Press Club for organizing the program.
